About Lilli Pilli Liquorice - a note from our herbalist
The essential foundation of this herbal infusion is the combination of liquorice, peppermint, and fennel. Each of these medicinal and culinary herbs is a natural wonder. Not only do they possess potent digestive relief properties, but they also boast distinctive and pleasurable flavours.
Liquorice, in particular, is a naturally sweet delight. Perfect for those with a sweet tooth. And peppermint is so bright and fresh, this flavour is incorporated into everything from chewing gum to chocolate. Fennel is a favourite for me to use in my clinic as a flavour enhancer for my high potency prescription herbal tonics, the taste of which can be challenging.
Whilst formulating this beauty, I made a list of all the digestive herbs I used in my clinic and marshmallow was another clear winner. Marshmallow is a lovely herb with an emollient action, a bit like a moisturiser for the gut. Using marshmallow root in this tea gives it a smoothness on the palate which I think is unrivalled by any other herbal tea ingredient. Aniseed acts to round out the flavour of this digestive tea, which has always been the bestseller in my clinic. My patients love it!
It's a pleasure to bring this tea to the public for all to savour. It's a formulation of which I am extremely proud and I sincerely hope you enjoy it.
